Is installing a graphics card in an iMac difficult?

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010
mac m asked:

I’m a graphic design student and I’m going to purchase an iMac soon. It comes with an “ATI Radeon X1600″ graphics card with only 128mb memory but I want at least 256mb.

Small rant:
I think the Apple site is crap because you have to spend more on things you dont need to actually choose what you want. What do I mean? Well, Apple does have the GeForce graphics cards with 256mb and 512mb but it actually lets you select a graphics card for yourself when you get the 24″ display and 250gb hard drive!

I’m sorry Apple, but I’m a poor student that doesnt need/cant AFFORD all that right now but I would like to upgrade my graphics card! Why not give me the option to do that?

Sorry, I had to go off like that.. by the way, are there any other sites where I’d be able to purchase an iMac that allows me to upgrade exactly what I need? Thanks for any help.

Ben
